“Sure, may as well try. But do me a favor and just tell her JJ needs to talk to her. It’s my burden to tell her what I did.” Have Liv and Pandora even met before? I pray she doesn’t get overexcited. She can get like me when I’m in a moment and blurt out something unnecessary.

JJ smiles, thinking of the last time he was with Rennie. “I want it to work so damned badly. I really do love him, Panda. I just happen to also love two girls. But I think he’s special, like a big donut covered in icing and sprinkles,” he snickers at the idea, hoping Panda appreciates the visual. “I’ve been told that loving more than one person just means you have a big heart, that it’s something beautiful. Do you think that’s true?”

JJ stares at the ocean. He remembers his mother saying that people with blue eyes have deep souls. JJ wonders if his eyes look like the ocean right now. He breaks out of his trance when Pandora asks about Lucy. He chuckles, “Sorry, I keep forgetting I’m the only one who calls her by her first name. Sketch, if you happen to know her. She calls me Jones in return.” Panda’s pep talk about Naomi makes JJ feel a bit happier. He hugs her in return. “Well since you’re not going to pieces on me, I may as well hug you for being a whizzer friend.” He holds back the tears forming behind his eyes. Freds, Claud, now Pandora. Maybe I’m not alone after all.

“Of course, I totally understand that, JJ!” Pandora said with a generous smile. Liv was someone she had not had the pleasure of talking to yet, but was definitely excited to do so. She had always loved meeting new people and making new friends. Although they aren’t really meeting on the best of circumstances…

JJ mentioned donuts and the analogy immediately clicked in her mind. “Wacker, you must really love him if you can describe him in that way!!” This only caused her smile to turn into a grin, one of her huge, signature, goofy ones that is three sizes bigger than any normal persons. “And I do think that could be true…very true, in fact. But I also think that you do need to prioritize your relationships because, if you don’t, you are going to hurt a lot more people than you intended to. “She let out a sympathetic sigh, “I’m sorry, but it is true.”

As he looked out into the water, she just watched him in silence, watched his eyes take in all he was looking at and let him think through his thoughts for a few quiet moments. “Oh, Sketch, I know her!” Panda let out a little giggle, trying to suppress it but failing miserably. “She is loads of fun. And I will try to never go to pieces on you, JJ, it doesn’t help anything.” She hugged him back, then pulled back to give him a sweet smile. “Don’t you cry, Jay, it’s all going to be alright. And I will be here for you every step of the way. Swear.”

JJ knits his eyebrows in confusion. “Prioritize my relationships? You mean figuring out who means the most and sticking with them? That’d be Rennie, hands down.” Once upon a time, he said that Liv meant more, but he’s fallen hard for Rennie. He’s been so open and sweet lately. I want to make him mine. Forever. He winces when Pandora mentions hurting more people than he intended, thinking of Liv and Lucy. JJ blushes a little when Panda tells him not to cry. Was it that noticeable? He blinks rapidly, willing the tears back. He clears his throat and says, “Thanks Panda, it really means a lot that you don’t hate me. I think only Freddie understands.” And Claud. “I do not look forward to when Cook finds out about this. He’ll pound me into next week for sure. Freddie wanted to kill him when he shagged Karen. People take siblings seriously. Hard to understand for us onlies, you know?”
