“Yeah yeah, that’s exactly what I mean!” Pandora nodded quickly, “And I’m glad you know who that one person you want is…it’s just time to let the others know now.” She took a deep breath. Panda was not always the one you would think of going to for a serious conversation, but she definitely had a lot more to her than weird clothes, funny sayings, and food. Especially when it came to someone she cared so dearly about such as JJ. “I don’t know if I could ever hate you, JJ, it would take an awful lot for me to do that.” She offered him a sweet smile. “I understand…and yeah, I know, us only children have a different outlook on life. I think…we have just never had a bond like siblings do, we can only try to.” Pandora sighed and looked out at the water, letting her mind finally wander to the one place she had been avoiding. Cook. He always seems to be mentioned when I am talking to someone. Although they probably can’t help it, we were all so close at one time. But I still can’t help but think…do some of my old mates do it on purpose?JJ knits his eyebrows in confusion. “Prioritize my relationships? You mean figuring out who means the most and sticking with them? That’d be Rennie, hands down.” Once upon a time, he said that Liv meant more, but he’s fallen hard for Rennie. He’s been so open and sweet lately. I want to make him mine. Forever. He winces when Pandora mentions hurting more people than he intended, thinking of Liv and Lucy. JJ blushes a little when Panda tells him not to cry. Was it that noticeable? He blinks rapidly, willing the tears back. He clears his throat and says, “Thanks Panda, it really means a lot that you don’t hate me. I think only Freddie understands.”
And Claud.“I do not look forward to when Cook finds out about this. He’ll pound me into next week for sure. Freddie wanted to kill him when he shagged Karen. People take siblings seriously. Hard to understand for us onlies, you know?”
JJ nods, taking in everything the Pandora said. She looks out into the water with a pensive expression on her face. He lets her have a moment to herself. A few minutes later, he asks, “So what’s been going on with you? School going well? Meet any new people? Have you seen much of Thomas?” He hopes that last question is ok. Thomas and Panda both go to Harvard, so it’s possible they’ve seen each other. But JJ isn’t aware of how civil their relationship, or lack thereof, is since they left it on bad terms. Even if she hates him, I miss Thomas. He brings light to everything, kind of like Panda. It’s probably why they got together in the first place. And donuts, can’t forget the donuts.

“Of course, I totally understand that, JJ!” Pandora said with a generous smile. Liv was someone she had not had the pleasure of talking to yet, but was definitely excited to do so. She had always loved meeting new people and making new friends. Although they aren’t really meeting on the best of circumstances…“Sure, may as well try. But do me a favor and just tell her JJ needs to talk to her. It’s my burden to tell her what I did.” Have Liv and Pandora even met before? I pray she doesn’t get overexcited. She can get like me when I’m in a moment and blurt out something unnecessary.
JJ smiles, thinking of the last time he was with Rennie. “I want it to work so damned badly. I really do love him, Panda. I just happen to also love two girls. But I think he’s special, like a big donut covered in icing and sprinkles,” he snickers at the idea, hoping Panda appreciates the visual. “I’ve been told that loving more than one person just means you have a big heart, that it’s something beautiful. Do you think that’s true?”
JJ stares at the ocean. He remembers his mother saying that people with blue eyes have deep souls. JJ wonders if his eyes look like the ocean right now. He breaks out of his trance when Pandora asks about Lucy. He chuckles, “Sorry, I keep forgetting I’m the only one who calls her by her first name. Sketch, if you happen to know her. She calls me Jones in return.” Panda’s pep talk about Naomi makes JJ feel a bit happier. He hugs her in return. “Well since you’re not going to pieces on me, I may as well hug you for being a whizzer friend.” He holds back the tears forming behind his eyes. Freds, Claud, now Pandora. Maybe I’m not alone after all.
JJ mentioned donuts and the analogy immediately clicked in her mind. “Wacker, you must really love him if you can describe him in that way!!” This only caused her smile to turn into a grin, one of her huge, signature, goofy ones that is three sizes bigger than any normal persons. “And I do think that could be true…very true, in fact. But I also think that you do need to prioritize your relationships because, if you don’t, you are going to hurt a lot more people than you intended to. “She let out a sympathetic sigh, “I’m sorry, but it is true.”
As he looked out into the water, she just watched him in silence, watched his eyes take in all he was looking at and let him think through his thoughts for a few quiet moments. “Oh, Sketch, I know her!” Panda let out a little giggle, trying to suppress it but failing miserably. “She is loads of fun. And I will try to never go to pieces on you, JJ, it doesn’t help anything.” She hugged him back, then pulled back to give him a sweet smile. “Don’t you cry, Jay, it’s all going to be alright. And I will be here for you every step of the way. Swear.”

She was glad that she still had the ability to make her friend smile, even if it wasn’t all that big. “Oh, he’s…nice. I met him for donuts the other day!” Pandora giggled, remembering how she was immediately fond of Rennie and was glad such a good person might be the right one for JJ. “But…about Liv…I can try talking to her, see if she will respond to me. If that would help at all…?” She wanted to help JJ and this was one of the ways she felt she could. At the mention of love, she raised her eyebrows yet again. “Wacker! Love? Wow…that is pretty serious, Jay. I hope you know what you are getting into,” Panda said with a sigh. She didn’t want to discourage him, but she knew what being in love could be like, and it wasn’t the best experience of her life. “And who is Lucy? I feel like I should know her, but I really can’t recall…anyways, what Naomi said is shit. You haven’t hurt me, and look! We are touching right now.” She grinned at him. “So don’t listen to her. Okay?” Pandora shot her friend a comforting smile and wondered what was going on in his head.Pandora’s reaction was just as enthusiastic as expected. He smiles, just a little bit. Despite Cook calling him GayJ all of these years, it does seem out-of-character for him to have sex with a guy. He furrows his eyebrows; he didn’t know Panda knew Rennie. “Yeah, Rennie.” JJ sighs, “Liv won’t talk to me. I don’t know if she’s still sick or she just doesn’t want to speak to me. I want to tell her what happened, but I’ve done everything I can to reach her. Rennie, he says he loves me. But he seems scared of relationships. I just want to know what we have will last. And that last person, Lucy, I think I made her mad. Damned if I know how. So it’s less of who I want to be with and more about if anyone even wants to be with me. Naomi is right, she and I hurt everyone we touch.” Maybe they’ll all just leave me. But Claud…maybe I could pursue him at the end of this madness.

“Don’t. You aren’t a tosser, JJ, we all fuck up. Majorly…things get better.” She said, hoping to make him feel better and stop worrying. But he mentioned sleeping with a guy and her head popped up, wide-eyed as she looked incredulously at him. “JJ, woah!” But her look of surprise slowly morphed into a smile. “Sorry, it was just…mega surprising! If he makes you feel good, then I am happy for you, dear friend of mine.” But then he mentioned Cook. The conversation always seems to go back to cook when I am around, doesn’t it? Why does everyone feel the need to mention him when talking to me? Her smile faltered a bit, but Pandora tried not to show it, forcing the smile back onto her face. “Uhm, Rennie…right?” She had met him the other day and he seemed like a pretty amazing person, so Panda was sincerely happy that JJ felt good around him.Pandora puts her arm around JJ, puts her head on his shoulder, and rubs his arm consolingly. “Thanks Panda. I just feel like a complete tosser. I didn’t mean to, I really didn’t. I still love her. But, it was a lot of things. She was sick, so I couldn’t see her. I was horny. I wanted to feel loved. Plus…” JJ continues to shift his eyes, knowing the next revelation will probably shock Panda. “Plus, one of them made me feel especially good. Different good. I…slept with a guy. I still love being with girls, but I think I’m into guys too now. Or at least this one. And here’s the kicker, it’s Cook’s half-brother.” JJ wonders how Pandora would take that, since she slept with Cook and all.

Pandora cocked her head to the side as he goes to sit down, gesturing for her to join him. JJ looked as if she just asked the worst thing she could think of. So she went and sat beside him and soon discovered that it most likely was one of the worst questions, for him, to have him answer. As he spoke, Panda felt sorry for him and put a comforting arm around him, hoping that she could help her old friend in some way. When JJ mentioned that he had cheated on Liv, it struck Pandora in the heart, bringing back memories of her relationship with Thomas. She had cheated before and she knew how it fucked up everything good in her life. So she held him tighter and rested her head on his shoulder, gently rubbing her thumb back and forth on his other arm. When he finished, Panda waited a few moments, then spoke softly. “JJ…it will all be okay. I know it doesn’t seem like it right now, everything may seem hopeless and fucked up, but whatever comes from this is meant to happen…whoever you end up with, whether it be Liv or another of these people, it will eventually all work out.” Pandora sighed, knowing just how he feels and empathizing with him. “I hope.”JJ mentally sighs, why on Earth does Pandora have to find his life interesting? I’ve only succeeded in fucking things up. Royally. JJ goes over to sit on the edge of the dock, leaving his models to sit there. Like anyone would steal model planes at the secluded pier. He motions for Pandora to join him. When she sits down beside of him, he starts with the painful conversation. “Well, aside from the makeover, I think I’m not the same JJ you knew at Roundview. I’ve become surprisingly more popular. Everyone seems to love my tricks now. I’ve also been getting more…romantic and sexual attention. Which has been very, very bad as of late. Lara broke up with me in the beginning of the summer. I met this girl Cassie, but she just went back to her ex. But this girl Liv loved me all along. We’ve been going out for a little bit now, but I fucked things up big time.” JJ sighs, knowing the inevitable has to be said. “I did horrible things, Panda. I’ve been…quite unfaithful to her. Multiple people. Sad thing is, I have feelings for all of them.” His eyes shift around, trying not to look at his friend’s face. Though Pandora had cheated on Thomas (unintentionally he realizes now), he doesn’t want her to judge him.

“How ‘bout we keep it simple, mega easy, and start with you?! What has been occupying the life of JJ Jones while I was away? I am intrigued to find out!” Pandora questioned him with a not-so-discreet giggle. “I’m sure Effs and I will catch up sometime and I can definitely tell you all my super duper exciting wonders of America after I hear about you!!” She grinned at her old and dearly missed friend, feeling somewhat nostalgic of her old life in Bristol just being near him. True, there were so many things she regrets and wish didn’t happen, but she couldn’t deny that she had so many good times and made amazing memories here as well. “OH, I have been to both and Dunkin’ Donuts definitely gets the Pandora Moon seal of approval as the better of the two!!! But Krispy Kreme is not far behind.” Panda let out a heart laugh, “I chose feeding my soul over staying healthy any day! And I am going to hold you to this trip, JJ, I am looking forward to it.” She winked at him, trying to contain her laughter and grins.“Well so much insanity has happened, you’d be better off asking on a person-to-person basis. Though some people, like Effy, are harder since I’m not in constant contact with them. So if there’s someone you’d like updates on, just ask. And then you can tell me the wonders of America.” JJ wasn’t intentionally being evasive, just there’s so much shit that has gone on in Bristol that it’s hard to find an ideal starting point. He’s also ashamed of some the things he’s done recently and doesn’t want to be judged. JJ laughs when Panda mentions donuts. “Massachusetts has Dunkin Donuts as the franchise of choice, but I’ve heard good things about Krispy Kreme. Maybe we should go on a donut tour of America. Bad for our health but good for our souls,” JJ says with a laugh.

He places his bag of models near his feet and gives Pandora a big hug. “It’s been ages. You came to think too? I kind of needed to get away from it all. Things have been crazy since you’ve been gone. Oh look at me being rude, I should be asking you how you’ve been.” JJ misses Pandora’s enthusiasm; he’s certainly in need of some light in his life.

Wow, you silly little thing!” Panda let out a hearty laugh and threw her arms around him, pulling him into a tight hug and swaying side to side a bit. “Of course I recognize you, and whatever Maxxie did to you, you look gooood, JJ!” She looked him up and down and laughed again, realizing how much she missed him and missed being here in Bristol with all her good mates. “Yeah, definitely thinking. Things still seem super duper insane over here, like always. Er, mind filling me in on what has happened with you while America held me captive for years. Oh, what that country does to make such delicious donuts, I will never know!” Pandora grinned, brushing aside his question about how she has been. She really wondered what has been happening to everyone while she was away.

JJ needs to get his mind off his fucked up life. After confronting Naomi, he tears off in a random direction, dragging his models behind him. His angry wandering leads him to the pier. Good, a quiet place away from it all. Freddie said Effy likes it here. Wait, is that her? JJ spots a girl, but not Effy Stonem. It was…”Pandora?” He remembers her saying she was back in Bristol. Panda is a sweet girl, maybe she can take his mind off of things. “Pandora!” JJ shouts and waves, trying to get his friend’s attention. I wonder if she’ll recognize me. I do look different as of late.
After her get together with Sketch and all the news she found out, who was also back in town, the news of what had recently happened, Pandora needed some time to take it all in. She remembered how Effy always went down to the pier and figured it could be a nice place to go and reminisce.
After she had been there for a little bit, she heard someone calling out to her. Turning around to see a waving boy walking towards her. Is that…? No, it couldn’t be. “JJ…JJ, is that you?!” She shouted back. Panda stood up and jogged closer, seeing it was him, and plastered on one of her signature grins and ran closer. “Bonkers! It is you!!”
